About this blog

The Facts and Figures blog was created to help readers understand how web analytics can be used to improve website performance and the visitor experience.

Web analytics is still a relatively new subject so our posts will be a mixture of content aimed at those new to the field as well as posts that explore  more technical or detailed topics.

Since we are likely to be going over ground covered by other blogs and online resources, we decided to present our posts using stories and dialogue.

To this end, we created two characters, Vlad and Gus (short for Gustavo) and fictitious agency,  The Web Detective Agency based in Amsterdam.

The Web Detective Agency: This agency was founded two years ago by Vlad. The agency only employs two people at the moment, Gus being the other one, but is picking up new clients at a rate of knots. The agency specialise in understanding their client’s website by using forensic analysis. They are the CSI of the Internet world, and are obsessed with getting to the bottom of what’s happening on the sites they ‘investigate’. Just like Grisham and Horatio they always get their man – or gremlin (problems with the website), as they get called.
